This two-stage project involved works at Simpson Barracks in northeast Melbourne, and HMAS Cerberus on the Mornington Peninsula.
Stage 1 works involved:
- A new training facility constructed for the Defence Force School of Signals (DFSS) Wing at Simpson Barracks, Watsonia, containing working accommodation and classrooms. The new building provides an environment to train Defence personnel in communications and information systems skills on the top level and supporting plant and infrastructure on the ground floor.
- ICT and refurbishment upgrades within the operational DFSS Maritime CIS Wing (MCIS Wing) in Building 457 at HMAS Cerberus, located approximately 150km from Melbourne’s CBD. Collaboration between the MCIS Wing stakeholders and NACP Projects resulted in a three-stage program – a reduction of two phases – enabling a better environment to continue MCIS Wing’s training of ADF personnel.
Stage 2
- Demolition of building 160 following completion and takeover of the new DFSS Wing at Simpson Barracks
All areas of works were carried out on working Defence bases, which required careful planning and coordination with Defence personnel and other stakeholders to ensure minimal impact on day-to-day operations.
