The Scope of Works for the Woomera Electrical Infrastructure Works consisted of a “like-for-like” replacement of the existing substation with a new Manual of Infrastructure Engineering (MIEE) compliant substation, consisting of the following main elements:

The substation consists of the following key elements:

  • A new elevated transportable switchroom building housing
  • 33kV fixed switchgear
  • 11kV withdrawable switchgear
  • Redundant battery charger and battery system
  • Protection and control panels, low voltage distribution boards, fire alarm system and telemetry system
  • Spatial provisions for future PCMS equipment

Two (2) new outdoor 33/11kV 2.5MVA transformers, one (1) new outdoor 11/0.4kV 250kVA auxiliary transformer and associated cabling to interface with existing incoming and outgoing overhead distribution lines. This is secured with new substation compound fencing, lighting and access roads.
