The scope of this project was to provide a like-for-like replacement of an existing substation, compliant with Manual of Infrastructure Engineering (MIEE) specifications.
The substation consists of the following key elements:
- A new elevated transportable switchroom building housing
- 33kV fixed switchgear
- 11kV withdrawable switchgear
- Redundant battery charger and battery system
- Protection and control panels, low voltage distribution boards, fire alarm system and telemetry system
- Spatial provisions for future PCMS equipment
The existing outdoor switchyard, switchroom building and existing 33kV, 11kV and 0.4kV incoming and outgoing supplies were demolished, in a process subject to strict environmental requirements.
Cabling was installed to interface with existing incoming and outgoing overhead distribution lines, and secured with new substation compound fencing, lighting and access roads.
