The focus of this challenging remote project was to introduce an integrated safety and control system at the Australian Defence Force’s Woomera Range, which is used to conduct complex research and testing programs.
With new infrastructure, the works enable safer and more efficient weapons testing activities to enhance future Australian aerospace experimental development.
The client employed a works packaging approach to divide the project into five stages, supporting Defence priorities.
Key components included:
- Construction of a control facility, allowing complex Defence activities to occur simultaneously while maintaining independence from each other
- Construction of a maintenance storage facility for equipment and vehicles
- Construction of remote sites spread over a large area
- Roadworks, instrument, control and communication sites to support access to range infrastructure
