The Woomera Works Package includes range upgrades which improve the Australian Defence Force’s operational training and testing capabilities.
There were four major components to the upgrades package.
Air Movements Terminal Refurbishment
This upgrade to the existing Woomera Air Movement Facility supports use of the air terminal by Defence Personnel. It involved works on a well-preserved heritage-listed building which is an important part of the RAAF Woomera’s history and ongoing operations, having long served as the front entrance to the base. The works were also carried out while airside operations continued on the base.
Guard House
A new main gate Guard House was constructed, including parking circulation space and infrastructure. The existing Guard House and boom gates were relocated and the changeover was completed overnight.
GSE Storage Facility
A new, adaptable Ground Services Equipment (GSE) store was constructed on the base.
Storage Facility
This new equipment store features facilities including a kitchenette and break room, as well as a layby for a semi-trailer truck at the front.
Through effective collaboration with Defence personnel, our team successfully undertook the works with minimal effect on airfield operations.
