J0105 Joint Health Command Garrison Health Facilities Upgrade, RAAF Base Darwin Health Centre

About This Project

The J0105 Joint Health Command Garrison Health Facilities Upgrade project involved upgrading and consolidating ADF health centres Nationally. This included new construction and refurbishment of existing facilities to enhance health services for ADF personnel. The objective of the program was to improve the delivery of health services in accordance with the Joint Health Command Model of Care and current Australian Health Facility guidelines (AusHFG). In 2023, NACP Projects delivered the RAAF Darwin Health Centre project, comprising the following staged works:

Stage 1: RAAF Darwin Health Centre Construction of a new 2,300m2 health facility, including general office space, medical consulting rooms such as General Practice, Physiotherapy, Metal Health, Primary Care and Respiratory Clinic. The Centre also contains a Pharmacy, four Plant Rooms, Transformer Room and two Communications Rooms. Externally, the health centre includes ambulance bays, covered entries, car parking and landscaping. The new Darwin Health Centre was built at some distance from the existing facility, allowing the existing health centre to remain in operation during construction. (Stage 2 deleted from scope)

Stage 3 & Stage 4: Design and Construction 1300m2 car park with associated roads and footpaths, landscaping and inground infrastructure diversion at Larrakeyah Barracks (Darwin), and Design and Construction of new dry fire detection system to the existing operational 1,400m2 Health Centre Larrakeyah Barracks (Darwin).

The Artwork: Ancestral Knowledge of Country

We proudly gifted the artwork Ancestral Knowledge of Country to Joint Health Command for the J0105 project at RAAF Darwin. Created by Larrakia artist Trent Bundirrik Lee, this piece reflects cultural wisdom and traditional healing practices through the depiction of native flora and fauna. It serves as a powerful reminder of the deep connection to Country and the importance of preserving traditional knowledge. Through gifts like this, NACP Projects celebrates First Nations heritage and reinforces the value of cultural identity within shared spaces.
